Now we’re getting to know our way around better. We’ve had 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 2 dinners. We had been advised that the food is very plain, and it is. Everything is buffet style, but there is usually plenty to pick and choose from – about 25 per cent of it looks and tastes OK. Breakfasts are best. But don’t come late, because they’re already recycling things for the next meal. We have been told there will be a BBQ and an a la carte meal per week. We really can’t complain. Warmth, tranquility and economy are our objectives. Nearly everyone here is Canadian, if not all of us. We tend to bed down and rise early, walk and go to the beach after breakfast. Judie reads and I go touring or read. On Saturday, I went to the higher priced resort, Breezes next to us along the beach. This morning, we both went. There are only 2 resorts here, near Jibacoa - not like Veradero proper where there are many resorts on a strip of land jutting into the ocean. Ryan and Kate stayed at Breezes after Christmas 2010, which we didn’t know until well after we had booked. As recommended by Maria, I met with Yasmany – Manny, who is some kind of activities director, sings in the band and in his spare time conducts private tours of Havana. He is very personable, speaks English very well and promises to give a great personal walking tour. I made arrangements for us to go with him on Tuesday. Stay tuned. I think our days will continue to be relaxed with only boring stuff to report. We hope to get more exercise. Spanish Coffees after lunch today make us sleepy. Stay tuned.
