Arrival in Paris

After a smooth red eye (pic) flight from Montreal, we arrived on time - 8:30 AM at Charles de Gaulle airport north of Paris. The fields and villages are interesting from the air (pic). Luggage retrieval and 1 hr. shuttle bus to our hotel went smoothly – glad someone else was driving. Our hotel (pic) is rather small, and the room is tiny but comfortable and clean. It is located on the right bank about midway between the Arc de Triomphe (pic) and the Eiffel Tower (pic). We had a brief nap and set out for a meal and afternoon walk. It rained intermittently, but became sunny and warm toward the end of our 3 hour outing. We saw the Arc, had lunch on Champs Elysees, (Meal described below for interested parties only - new blog policy), went further down the Champs, turned south, walked along the Seine River with views of Eiffel to Palais de Chaillot opposite the tower, and then back along Kleber Ave. (restaurants appear as good but less pricey than Champs E.) to the Hotel. Got some grocery store needfuls and then early to bed to prepare for a full day Wednesday.

Lunch was at the rather elegant l'Alsace restaurant at a table opening onto Ave Des Champs Elysees. We were hungry so didn't shop around too much for price. Judie had Quiche Alsacienne still thinking of breakfast, and I had grilled Andouilette with Bordelaise Sauce and the compulsory french fries. Had to ask what it was - Sausage like I've never seen. - stuffed with thinly sliced meat. We thought of Eric - Judie remembered that he considered it for the wedding menu. We shared some wine and watched the people walk by. (0)
